Extra Credit #6 Rivers

Virtual Rivers

Equipment needed: Web access and a printer

In this exercise, you will examine how rivers work and how discharge is calculated. This is a web-based exercise. When you successfully complete the exercise, you are awarded a certificate of completion. This "Virtual Seismologist" certificate must be printed and turned in, with your name and ID on it. It may take anywhere between 15-45 minutes to complete. To receive the extra credit, your certificate must be turned in by Friday December 3, 2004.

Go to this website: Virtual River Webpage. Start reading and do the River Discharge or the River Flooding exercise. (Once you finished with a page, you advance to the next page by clicking the big button(s) at the bottom of the page.) At the end of the assignment, you will arrive at the "Congratulations!" page: fill in your name, institution, and put your Student ID in place of "City & State". PRINT OUT YOUR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION PAGE, and turn it in for credit. YOUR NAME AND ID# MUST BE ON YOUR CERTIFICATE!! This is proof you completed it. Black&white printing is fine, as long as it is legible. This exercise is due Friday December 3.
Note: You may receive credit for only 1 certificate - River Discharge or River Flooding - NOT BOTH!
